  My mom just called

  my biological family has been shunning me ever since i daed back in 1998.. my mom opened by saying that she's been thinking about me lately and then we chatted a bit to catch up on news.

  i told her about my toilet training my two cats, my recent nose surgery, my running and how things are going well at work.

  she told me about how my dad had a medical issue come up in july and how it was treated.. normally my biological family will only contact me when someone dies.

  i know a lot of brits, aussies, canadians, etc, always marvel at the arrogance, haughtiness, and cockiness of us tourists visiting their countries.

  or how mainstream us citizens just fall in line with anything that comes out of the government's mouth, accept any policy as "good", believe all that stuff about how "america is the greatest nation on earth!"..

  how it gets ingrained into the being of most us citizens?.

  The most patriotic thing one can do is stand up and fight injustice and lies. Criticizing a lying and unjust government that is supposedly democratic - that's patriotism at its core.

  Hypocrisy and emotional blackmail can go two ways, but I have no advice.

  I've been in similar predicaments with my family, and didn't handle things so well myself.

  I wish I could say, go ahead with the kneejerk reaction, but been-there-done-that and it did not help me really.

  I don't know what to tell you; just sorry and good luck and congratulations and have a very happy wedding and marriage, with or without your parents.

  they have already lost some beautiful buildings.

  my mother is studying with the baptists.

  it's her 2nd weekly study with a woman about her age, and today she told me this.. "did you know that those that have "accepted christ", have the same dna?.

  not to be mean but why should i care that you have 3,000 posts?

  this yet again proves how useless even making stats like this public are.

  it just gives people ammo to say, "i have 25,000 posts so obviously i am more vested in this board then you".

  i have been a disfellowshiped joho (what i call jehovah's witnesses now) for 7 years and i still find it hard every single day!

  i have just recently reunited with 2 of my 4 sisters who have taken a stand just like myself!

  i encourage anyone who is struggling with the decisoin to leave or not to leave, but beleive me and the countless others, it was the best decision of my life!!!

  Welcome, prodigal son. I did not know that Jehovah's Witnesses in Canada referred to themselves as ministers. That's highly unusual in the U.S. for a witness to say. Anyway, welcome. I learn something new each day, it seems.
